This weekend we went to Granada for a couple of days. When we arrived we were able to tour the city a bit and see the Cathedral and the Center. Of course my memory card filled up, so I had to purchase a new one (ugh). But it was definitely worth it. Our hotel was right across the street from the Alhambra... which meant that we had to hike up and down this huge mountain if we wanted to go to the center of town. My legs are killing me.
Granada is a beautiful town. The atmosphere is totally different from Seville, but very enjoyable. The weather was interesting (a bit cold and windy). There were a lot more hippies haha. There was a greater Arab influence in the buildings and town.
That night after shopping and hanging out (and eating a good dinner at the hotel!) we got to see a traditional Flamenco show in las cuevas (the Caves). It was so amazing... the dancers were so powerful and the rhythm was unlike anything I've ever heard before. Very entertaining and HIGHLY recommended. I have video, but probably won't be able to post it until I get back to the states.
The next day we got up bright and early to visit the Alhambra - Palace in Granada. It's definitely a must see :) The whole place was so beautiful and the weather was gorgeous too. The architecture and decorations were crazy. I loved them (although, I think I liked the Alcazar better...) This is just a snippet of the stuff we were able to see. More photos are being uploaded to facebook right now :)
As far as future travels go, luckily in the south of Spain we are close to some other countries. Mainly Portugal and Morocco. We are planning a trip to Lagos, Portugal this weekend (we have 2 days off). It's supposed to be really amazing... beautiful beaches and a quaint little town. We'll be staying in a hostel, which is kind of weird, but it's a really nice one :)
In a couple of weeks, we have another break from school. That weekend some friends and I are planning a trip to Morocco. We'll be going with a large tour group (which I think is the best way to go since we don't really know how to get around morocco). We found a pretty good deal and should be signing up tomorrow. The trip is 3 days and 2 nights. Very exciting. But I need to remember to appreciate Sevilla while I'm here.
Speaking of Sevilla, our roommate is finally back. She went on this "camino" or religious walk to a Cathedral (Santiago) in the North of Spain. She has some very interesting stories to tell and she seems like a cool person. After dinner Nicole, her, and I went out for icecream and walked around Sevilla for over an hour. So pretty. I can't wait to spend more time here. And she showed us some cool places to hang out and meet more Spanish people... so that should be fun :)
Anyways thats all for now. Uploading pictures to facebook is a pain in the butt. But I'm so excited to do it :)
Hope you all are staying safe and having fun!
Hasta Luego!

Alhamdulillah I have had times in my life when I've appreciated how content and happy I was. There are several. I'm glad you found a perfect time there. Hmmm I wonder if they take older students in these programs, cuz I want to go too!
Its nice to hear that you found a moment of solace and content. Those are rare but much appreciated. Makes one appreciate life and the little things that make us smile. I am totally happy for you and your tour de espana. Studying abroad appears to really rock. Inshallah, one day I'll be able to travel to all my desired destinations. Have fun and enjoy the rest of your trip(s. Stay safe. Amin.
Mmm. Completely content. Sounds wonderful darling. Miss you.
What's a hostel?
That pic with the reflection on the water is gorgeous.
