Greetings from Spain!
Alhamdulillah I made it safely. I had a great flight over and a restful day in Madrid before I got to meet up with the rest of the group today.
I met Pilar, the resident director at the airport this morning and then proceeded to meet the 4 other girls in my program (yes only 5 of us!). They all seem pretty cool and I know we´re going to have a blast.
Right now I am writing this from an internet cafe. It´s only 1.5 Euro for half an hour which is half the price at the hotel (the hotel doesn´t have free wifi or internet.... WACK!).
For the next couple of days we are in Madrid visiting museums and palaces and whatnot. On Wed (I think) We leave for Toledo, then to Cordoba, then finally to Seville by train (yay train!).
I´m excited to see my residencia and go to the Universidad and see bullfighting and flamenco and a fútbol game and el parqué and everything.
As for the food... pork is everywhere! we even went to un Museo de Jamón (ham museum). I have to be very specific about what I order.
And as far as Spanish goes, it is quite indimidating doing ANYTHING in public because I´m nervous about speaking. But so far I´ve been pretty good. I´ve already picked so much up just in my first day. Inshallah I´ll come back speaking like a pro (probably not fluent, but at least better off than I am now)
Well I should be off now as I only have half an hour on the computer. I´ll try to upload pictures as soon as I get to a place where I can.
Hasta Luego!

yay for spain! glad you made it safe
Hmmm... being surrounded by pork. I wonder what that's like. Having lived in Hatfield, Home of the smiling porker, I can relate to that but no Ham Museum!

So there's a Toledo in Spain? Maybe that's the Toledo Max Klinger was from!
